The front panel is trashed and will need replacing, but has anyone had any luck with mar-k's angle strips for both sides instead of replacing entire sides? Just the flange area is rusted out and no real rust has made it up the bed side.
When I rebuilt my 54 in 1998 the flanges on my bed were rusted bad so I bought the angle things from Mar-K. the ones I bought looked like bed strips but had an angle to go up the bed side. I saw someone else (I think Mid-Fifty) has another style to choose from now. I definitely saved me money and it looks OK and the average person would not know it is not stock.

Those are the ones I am referring to. I assume you cut the rusted remains out and weld these in place? On the front panel the rust is up a bit - more than the angle I was referring, but I guess I could find solid metal and cut out and re weld in a piece of sheet metal rather then spend the $150 plus freight on a new front panel.
This is not going to be a show truck. I acquired it to work on it with my son, who is 12. The hope is he enjoys learning this type of things, we get to hang out (deployments have had me away from him for 5 years of his young 12), and provide a vehicle for him when he turns 16.
