Random Idea, Would This Work?

So i was thinking about the 57-60 bed on my 63. My biggest complaint with it is that the bed is only single wall. Has anyone tried welding in an inner wall to protect the wall from dents from stuff in the bed?

I was thinking of welding in sheets either along the inner lip of the bed then to the bed floor.

Just an idea if anyone has feedback.

I think its more effort than its worth. I also think you would have to be very good with metal otherwise it will just look retarded.

If I were to do that to my two single wall beds. I would probably go with a removable panel. Weld in or bolt in some sort of L bracket that you could bolt or screw the protective panels to. Put them along the lower side of the upper bed rail and along the bed straigh down from the upper rail. I would make them removable so you could get behind them for clean out so you avoid a rust out situation in place you would no longer be able to reach if you welded them in solid. Just my 2 pennies worth.

If it was me, I would go ahead and put a wood bed in the bottom and sides to match.

Thats not a bad idea and would probably make it easier than trying to get large sheets in to weld in place.

I don't think I'm gonna do wood sides but the floor is still up in the air. I'm thinking I'm gonna go put removeable metal sides when I have the money. As far As the floor goes I'm debating between trying to fix the existing floor which isn't that bad, replacing it with diamond plate and going with a wood floor like what would be in a stepside. But just for the center
