Lifting the 2wd

So my X is nice, but now that I'm in VA. I've noticed that it doesn't look as big as it did. I'm going to need a little lift but can't really find much since I'm 2wd. I'm wanting to go 4-6 inches but not really any higher. I want at least 4 so it's worth the time installing it and 6 max because hey, it is still just 2wd.

one of the mods Toreador_Diesel lifted his I believe

the rear is a joke. Use a F-250 4" rear block or a 5" aftermarket one. Some on eBay are about $150 for block + u-bolts. Not back IMO since you get u-bolts as well.

Does your X have a block currently?

no idea about the front

Just got back from a double date with the Missus and some friends, you'll have a well written answer in the morning.

Nothing as of now, but the rear does have a little squat to it

Any chance of some details from last night?

Can you let me know what size tires you're running as well? Mine are slightly bigger than stock (on OEM 18's) but I might want to go a tad bigger just for looks.

well there you go for the rear. you can maintain the exact same factory ride, but gain 4" by using a F-350 4" block. Be sure you are getting a 4" though. There are 2", 2 5/8", and 4" blocks from the factory.

or do a modded B leaf (or modded F leaf) swap. that'll gain you 2" alone + a OEM 2 5/8" X block and you are looking at 5" gain in the rear.

Probably a dumb question, but can I do the spring swap plus a 4 inch block? Simple math says that's a 6 inch lift, but it doesn't always work out that way. The other thing is if I can only get 4 inches total out of the front I obviously don't want 6 in the rear

One other question, am I measuring from the ground to the bottom of the fender or from the ground to the frame? Am I looking to get the front and rear the exact same height or is there a slight rake to the body itself?

modded b spring swap for 2" gain + 4" block for a total of 6". the modded B swap is a known 2" lift. you're looking at a 5.5" to 6" gain for certain.

I got 2" from my modded f codes (2005-2007 leafs that are similar to B codes) as well, but that's a much lesser traveled path.

I'm really interested in how the front gets lifted. I know new coils are required...but what about radius arms and steering components? Be cool if there is a relatively cheap way to do the lift like you can with the 4x4's

Looks like I'll be on the look-out for some B-codes then Is there a list somewhere of what trucks they come on so I can find them a little easier?

you just have to look in door jambs and hope to get lucky. Amazon.Com has some pretty cheap Pro-Comp leafs as well that a few members here have installed.

Check Craigslist for some good deals.

I assume this is what I'm looking for:
Pro Comp 22415 5" Rear Leaf Spring for Ford F250/F350 99-07 : Amazon.com : Automotive Pro Comp 22415 5" Rear Leaf Spring for Ford F250/F350 99-07 : Amazon.com : Automotive

Also is that a set or just 1? Looks like it's each... who the hell only needs one?!?

Found these too, same thing but a set from Summit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/exp-22415

That is per leaf

Be careful with buying F250 stuff. A 5" lift for them is a 3" for us. All the Superduty stuff runs 2" shorter on the X. Hence why most guys use used B codes. Cheaper and you get a known quantity

Well the Summit page shows them as a set but $16 for shipping so that's good. Need to figure out what to do as far as shocks too.
