As mentioned in an earlier post, i had bought from our local junkyard absolute everything needed to do my 5 speed conversion for $180. (well almost everything, still missing the actual shifter)
So i have been reading, before i tear into it and rebuild my truck, and i noticed the discussions about single and dual mass flywheel.. guess what i have gotten.. right a single mass flywheel... . so this got me thinking and i went back in my shed and pulled them numbers of the clutch i have: plate has Cs 80240 and the pressure plate a CA70263. both have a date of 08/01/06. Overall they actually look pretty darn good, with minor wear.
When i did a search for those numbers, the pressure plate came upt with a valair clutch.. am i that lucky?
anyway my question: the pilot bearing is shot.. can i just buy a regular new bearing, or do i need a special one due to the single mass flywheel?
also, could someone out there give me the exact thickness of the clutch, so i can see, how far mine is wore?
Just give the clutch disc a visual. If it's getting down close to the rivets, go ahead and put a new one in it. And make sure the flywheel you have is a LUK brand. It should be casted in or stamped into the backside of the flywheel somewhere. I seem to remember something is different about the Valeo flywheels, but I can't for the life of me remember what.
It should take the same pilot bearing as the factory DMF. So just go get a replacement pilot bearing and throwout bearing for our year trucks and you should be good to go.
You should be able to talk with gary or one of the other guys down there and they can set ya strait and get ya the pilot bearing and other parts you need as well.
If there are numbers associated with the parts, they should be able to verifiy or have an idea if its theirs also.
