hey everyone. ive been lurking on this forum for a while and have learned a ton but i need some input.
i purchased a 87 6.9 4x4 a few months back and know im due for a tune up now but shes running really rough... i plan on replacing injectors and all filters and fluids this weekend but just a week ago she started running really poorly...
lots of white smoke... was stalling out at stop signs... popping sound over 1800rpm and it starts to struggle and looses power and speed...
and it ran incredibly well up until a week or so ago... towed and hauled with it, started in 2 cranks, moved really well on the highway (even for a c6)
no oil in coolant, no coolant in oil, no visible cracks on block or heads... but it sounds like its misfiring on the passenger side and popping alot...
think new injectors and a tune up would help? its around 150k miles and i drive it daily... just slow to get up to speed and have to let off throttle at around 1800 rpm to let it shift.
unless some one loosened the bolts the timing can't change. worn or dirty injectors is my guess, have you drained the water out of the fuel filter, try some injector cleaner.
I know that when my '85 starts running rough and producing white smoke, especially when I let off the accelerator, the idle pulses, loss of engine power, its time to change the fuel filter.
