2000 Expedition stuttering in reverse
Hello all... I am new to the site and excited to learn. I am not new to the joys of owning a Ford, but this one has me a bit puzzled. There are a few issues to solve, but for now the biggest issue is stuttering when i shift into reverse. When i start the engine from cold, there is very little to no problem with the way it idles in park, reverse, or any of the forward gears. After driving for a bit and the engine warms up to normal range, when i come to a stop the engine acts like it is going to, or actually does, die. But shows no symptoms until I am almost completely stopped. Similarly, once it is warm, when I put it in reverse there is a significant struggle between the engine trying to die and powerful surges of acceleration... I have attacked everything I can with brake parts cleaner and checked all over the top of the engine for vacuum leaks and the problem seems to be slowly getting worse... Any insight would be greatly appreciated..! Almost forgot the most important parts... It is a 2000 model expedition, Eddie Bauer, 5.4 Triton, 4x4, air ride, and 4 way leveling system... too many bells and whistles for a work truck...
