Replaced Multifuction Switch, now engine won't start. (Antitheft?)
I replaced the multifunction switch because one turn signal stopped working and the problem traced to the switch. I had to remove the ignition switch in order to remove the shroud. The new multi-switch is in, turn signal works, engine cranks but won't fire up. (It fired right up before the repair.)
I remember reading something that if you install a new ignition switch, it must be programmed for the vehicle. However, I didn't install a "new" ignition switch, I simply removed it and reinstalled the same one.
Am I screwed?
I removed the steering column cover for a closer look and there was a wire hanging from the key lock assembly. It clips on near the top (opening) of the key lock outer cylinder. However, the plastic clip is broken and the contact won't stay in place.
Yup, I'm screwed.
The motor cranks but won't even try to fire off. No spits or sputters, which indicates that the problem is electrical.
Are there any circuits in the multifunction switch that would stop the engine from firing up?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
