Doing the DSII conversion to my 85 351w. Went to oreilly's and got the single vacuum advance distributor for an 85 351w, part #30-2895. Heres the problem, it is 9/16" shorter and to small to fit over the shaft. The distributor on there now is part #30-2865.
I am a little confused and frustrated as I have read countless threads on this forum where no one has ever had this problem? Did I just not finagle the thing enough for it to drop in? Has anyone else ever noticed their TFI dizzy was longer than the DSII? Any help would be much appreciated.
They gave you a distributor for a 302 instead of a 351.
It may be the wrong part in the right box.
You never know what happens at the rebuilders,
Explain the problem and have them give you the right one.
Thats what I told them but it was the only one they had in the store, i didn't have the patience to wait around for another 24 hours to figure things out. One of the bad things about living in the ole AK. I just ordered this one from amazon
Just what you need, a Chevrolet distributor in a Ford. It will probably be OK until the first time something goes bad and you have to figure out what fits.

I went to the website and it is compatable with the DSII so I'm not too worried about it. We shall see, if I didn't have problems with my truck then my wife would divorce me cause I would be botherin her so much.
