key on power

I am adding a fuse box to my truck under the dash where is there a good sized key on wire that I can tap into? I think before the main fuse box is best so I don't blow any fuses for other stuff but large enough yo handle a load. I don't know how much of a load I will be running through the box but I'd like to have it wired properly in case I run a compressor or lights through it.

The proper way to do that is run power directly from the battery to a relay that is switched on by tapping into an ignition-powered 12v accessory wire. You do NOT want to try to power a fuse block for high-load items like lights and compressors based off of some accessory wire. It'll either not work (i.e. blow a fuse immediately, every time) or burn your truck to the ground. Either way, it's not really desirable...
