Fuel tank issue

Got an odd issue. Discovered the hard way that my front tank is syphoning into my rear tank (which has a small leak) leaving me confused and out of fuel. Dropped rear tank and swapping it out for a spare, but any ideas about the syphoning issue???

Has to be the selector valve.
