1994 F150 starting problem 2nd try
I have a well maintained 94 F150 super cab 4x4 with 140000 miles on it. For the past several months when cold starting the engine will either idle very rough, and almost die out, or die out completely. I've had it in the shop several times for the same problem, but they can't seem to solve it. Does anyone out there have an idea what it could be? Timberbuck asked me about the idle air-bypass valve. I questioned my mechanic about it, and he said that there is no error code for that particular item on the 94 F150. He does'nt want to just put a new one in because they cost about $150.00. Is there any way to test it to see if it's working? Or is there something else he should be looking at? Any help will be gratly appreciated. Don

Just a thought, but have you looked at the engine temp sensor, the one for the computer...??
Could be sending erroneous signals...
I have heard of people saying that it MAY not trip codes...
Just a shot in the dark...
I know replacing parts is not a good option...Many books will give you the test procedures for that part (and others), and it may be time to make sure that some of your sensors are giving good readings...
