Lurker Here. Need some quick help 95' F-150

So, driving home from a morning at school I was going along at about 70 mph, middle lane of the highway and I heard a pop, much like a gunshot, from under the hood. I lost all response from the throttle, and it would not start back up. (Important note: all interior electronics worked fine.) I checked behind me, expecting a bunch of smoke or something, but I did not see anything. After pulling over, and popping the hood, my first thought was blown spark plug (I changed plugs & full ignition system about 4 to 6 weeks ago) but that is not the issue, and I'm not sure what is. Oil is good, it has coolant and there was zero smoke when it happened. Anyone have any ideas? I own a lawn and tree company so I use my truck daily, so I either need to get it fixed quick, or start looking for another

Truck Info: 1995 F-150, 4x4, Auto, 207k, 302 5.0, manual transfer case, extended cab, short bed

I'm far from an expert, but I'm killing time here so I'll waste some of yours

Assuming the noise was a backfire if nothing's broken.

Guess I'd see if the distributor is loose - causing a backfire and no-start.

Then check fuel pressure to the fuel injectors - maybe lean condition caused a back fire? Of course- I'm more used to carbureted engines than fuel injected - not sure what would cause a backfire with efi.

have you checked codes?

You need to dump the codes. A '95 is completely electronically controlled and it will show fault codes when a problem occurs. You can guess all you want and throw parts at it all you want but getting the codes will point you in the right direction immediately. FYI, it'll throw an ECT (engine coolant temp.) code as long as the engine is NOT up to operating temperature when you dump the codes. So if the engine is cold and you dump codes, you can disregard that fault code. And anyways I'm pretty sure your ECT sensor isn't going to randomly explode and cause your engine to not run lol
