mad

I have a 76 f100 and there is a solid pink wire leading to the plug but was snipped just before the plug. What is this for and why would it be snipped off? Does anyone have a diagram labeling which wire does what?

I don't have the diagrams, so I am going off memory (not good) but, those wire colors sound like the power feed to the ignition coil. I seem to remember the pink comes out of the switch, goes through the special resistor, and then goes to the red/green which goes to the positive of the coil. Check and see if I'm right by looking at the coil positive and see if it has the red/green. Sounds like maybe the resistor burned out and somebody may have bypassed it, or somebody at one time may have put in a high performance ignition that needed the resistor out of the circuit. If you have a stock ignition, you need the resistor.
