Ford had a keypad entry system available earlier this year that you could add to any vehicle- the keypad was infrared-operated with a battery. Unfortunately, it has disappeared from all their brochures, so I don't know if it's still available. Check with the parts department of your local Ford dealer, or any one of the accessory places on the Internet.
All my cars/SUV have had the keypad entry too. I just took delivery of my F350 and really miss that"non" option. I did some checking and was told that since the Excursion has it available, that it can be added to a super duty as well. I am still doing some homework regarding the details. I know they have to drill a hole in the door and run some wires. The keypad is then glued and sealed over the hole so it can't leak or rust. That is all I know so far. I will try to keep you posted and please do the same if you hear of anything.
I will be taking my truck to the dealer in the next few weeks for an Oil change and to add the overhead trip computer. I should know something concrete then regarding the key pad entry.
I have been traveling like crazy (Just got back from Japan), all via Northwest Air so the miles that I was putting on my truck have slowed way down. I was sure that by now I would have been to the dealer for my first oil change. With my current driving habits, it will be a few more weeks, definetly by mid July though.
No problem-o. Were you near Tokyo? Man, when I was there I spent like 6 hours in the Akihabara (sp?) district looking at electronics. What a place.....
I always stay in Sagimino, about 45 min outside of Shin Ju ku. I work for Marantz. We specialize in Home Theater equipment (HDTV, DVD, etc). One of our main offices is there. I love it over there. I am good for about 1 week at a time and then I am ready for the US again. I appreciate you comments about looking at electronics. It is my life and I am always amazed at the stuff I see over there.
