My '98 B3000 has an oil leak. There is some oil up high on bell housing. So a buddy and I thought it might be the oil pressure sending unit. I replaced it. And still seems to be leaking.
Maybe valve covers? I was thinking rear main until we saw it on the bell housing. Valve covers don't seem to be leaking on the outside. Do they leak worse on the inside of the V?
Valve covers & CMP/cam sensor have been known to leak & have oil blow or drip high up on the bell housing. Has your PCV plumbing, or valve been replaced lately, if its clogged up, stuck, or sticking, it'll cause an engine over pressure condition, that'll cause the weakest gasket to blow, or weep.
More thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.
EDIT: BTW Welcome to FTE!!!!
If in your inspections for leak suspects you find its a valve cover gasket, you might try re-torqueing them to spec, as gaskets shrink over time & fasteners will loose their torque setting & that can cause a leak.
Does your cam sensor, located high up on the engine where the distributor used to be, passenger side, back close to the firewall, look like its wet with oil around its base, or is it making any untoward sounds, like a squeek????
