I have 6.9 engine in an F-250, I just put in a new aliminum radiator, and flushed the system w/tap water. How do you drain the block? I have looked and didn't see any drain plugs or pet*****. I assume one needs to remove all the water in the Bloch before adding distiller water and antifreeze.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
I'm no 6.9 expert, but on the 7.3 there are two plugs with hex heads (7/16th I believe) at the back of the block. One is clearly visible, and the other is hidden behind the starter.
Yup, those are the two. I never did it on mine, but have had a few folks say it's worth it to install pet***** in place of those plugs. They make a mess when you pull them.
Flush the block with water and some CLR if you want to break some of the rust loose, then you can just put a mesh filter or stocking in the upper radiator hose to catch the bits so they don't get into your new radiator.
