Wanting to put a dual exahust in my 89 f150, was wondering if anyone had any tips that will help or if anyone has done this be for to give me some heads up that they had problems with. One thing I have had an issue with is figuring out how to mount them securely that won't look like total crap
Go for it. It won't pass emissions if you have inspections in your state. And most of the kits do not come with mufflers. But otherwise I haven't heard any complaints about them. They bolt to the stock manifolds.
That's one of the good things about living in Oklahoma as long as u don't make it to loud they never look for it when u get pulled over lol but yes it's manifold back I'm putting flowmaster 40 series on it I think it will sound good on what I've see YouTube. Do u have any idea about hangers or making hangers
If you want I can snap some pics of my true dual system.
80 F-150 Shortbed 351m. It'll show you how they have it hung. And for clarification, I did not install this system. Nor have I tried to pass inspection yet. That will be in a few weeks (it has cats and mufflers).
I ended up running Dual 2.25" from the manifold back no cats, and flowmaster deltaflow 40s (not the supers) it's pretty quiet in the cab but you can really hear it outside the truck..
This is the youtube video of the current sound at idle.. Nice and quiet in the cab unless you have the rear window open. with the current cam it really can turn heads in traffic.
I have an older version of this exhaust where I did side exits.. after 300 miles on the interstate at 70mph/open windows I was quite deaf.. I do not recommend it if you want to run long distance with the truck.
The pipe comes off the Stock manifold and crosses over to the passenger side
The pipe is met in the middle of the truck where the 2 mufflers sit side by side
The pipe then goes over the rear axle
The pipe then spreads out to go around the rear gas tank
And finally exits at the rear bumper
All of these pics were quite literally just taken, and I used a Wide Angle Tamron 10-24mm f3.5:4.5 on a Canon Rebel T2i, makes pics much easier to take under there..
Yes djork I would appreciate that every bit of info and visual help u or anyone else can give me would be most helpful thank u marchettej those videos where nice they sound awesome

I put a custom dual exhaust in El Guapo. The write up is in my build thread. Here are some pictures of the dual exhaust and brackets I fabbed up.
A closer view of the driver side bracket.
And a closer look at the passenger side bracket.
They were pretty easy to fab up, once I decided figured out exactly what I wanted to do. Hopefully, that will give you some ideas.
Marchette, you have a really clean system under your truck. It looks great, and well organized to boot! I can't stand seeing crooked pipes or mufflers not mounted symmetrically, etc. It just looks off kilter.
I also love El Guapo's exhaust hangers. Heck, I love El Guapo.

Forgive the quality, cell phone in a dark garage. If you want better ones I can get them tomorrow morning.
Each Exhaust header has a pipe directly into its own cat, there is a hanger hidden above the cats, but nothing before them:
From the cats it follows down the line to the mufflers:
Looking down from the cats:
Hanger right after the mufflers:
Better shot of the hangers (one per pipe):
Bends to get up and over the rear axle:
Rear hanger after they drop back down:
Tied together near the previous hanger:
Finally, out behind the passenger rear wheel.
Once again, I did not do this install, nor do I know the legality of it in states other than Northwest Washington (Whatcom, Skagit counties). I don't even know if its legal here in Nevada.

But, that's what it looks like right now.

Good luck with your project.
You didn't mention what you are going to do about your gas tank. I didn't read your build thread. Are you just going to use a rear tank and no side tank and cover the hole up on the bedside?
