Internal engine mods on a 4.6L
Will internal engine parts (ie cams, pistons, etc) made for a 4.6L SOHC Mustang engine work in a 4.6L SOHC F150 engine? I might be wrong, but shouldn't both engines be the same?

Odin,
My understanding is that you can swap parts if you match the right years and plants etc. But the cams,for example, will not improve performance (in fact your engine won't run right) unless you also change the intake and ECU.

Could you explain further what you mean by replacing the ecu and intake?
What would I have to replace them with? Couldn't I just reprogram the ecu? What about a Diablo chip? Could that work?
What about the intake? Throttle body, manifold, everything?

Your questions are good ones, but a little above my head. I don't remember everything I've read on the subject.
If you put cams from a mustang 4.6 into your truck your valve timing and lift will be optimized to the mustangs A/f mix and flow etc.

I have been searching for similar information.
I am also interested in any compatibility of parts between 5.4L and 4.6L engines.
Also would like to hear from anyone who has swapped a 5.4L in place of a 4.6L, what it takes physically and electrically.
