E4OD Slipping...

Both my 96 F20 and 94 Bronco have E4ODs and they are both having a slight slipping problem at speed. When I am in overdrive at 45-60 mph (varies) it'll feel like the tranny slipped into nuetral for a moment, then grabs back into gear again. The bronco transmission was rebuilt about 2 years ago, and the F250s is unknown (Truck has 200K mi). The fluid level is good and color is nice and pink in both vehicles. I use Mercon type fluid, but I wonder if I should use something else like a mercon V or a synthetic Mobil1 type. What do you tranny experts think?

ATF won't correct this problem, you don't seem to have low ATF neither. It probably is caused by a problem with the valve body, maybe even a broken spring, an ailing torque converter could also cause this, but it would happen at any speed. I remember somebody mentioned a probable cause but can't recall exactly which. Check the E4OD shift kit install mod in my signature, you might get a better idea about it.

Any codes present? This trans is completely computer controlled and most issues with it can be traced to something electronic.

Most of the time this is caused by a bad TR sensor.
Auto parts stores will call the TR sensor a PRNDL Neutral Safety Switch sometimes.
Other times they will call the TR sensor a mpls transmission sensor.
It can also happen in a 4X4 truck with a non 4X4 filter in the E4OD.

How do you get transmission codes? I have a code reader and can retrieve engine codes with koeo and koer method. If that is the same process, then I have no transmission codes.

That is how you do it. The codes you are looking for would be after the KOEO when the CM codes read out.
