REPLACING CONDENSOR

Factory A/C on my 1985 F-350

Must I remove the radiator to replace the condensor; or, can it be accessed by removing the grille ??

Thanks for reading.

Anybody know ???

It appears I will most likely have to move the radiator.

If I have the fan off the engine, can I just pivot the radiator toward the engine and have enough clearance to replace the condensor, or must I completely remove the radiator ??

That huge diesel radiator weighs a ton.

Thanks.

Yes, that will work fine, most do it that way.

I got my new condensor installed.

I removed the engine fan.

To make things lighter, I drained the huge heavy diesel radiator.

I dis-connected the top hose to allow top of the radiator to pivot toward the engine.

Located on each side of the radiator mount, there was a square-cornered angled metal tab, whose only reason for existence looked to be as an aid in guiding the radiator down into place, and also as a means of refusing removal of the condensor without first removing the radiator; some careful work with a hack-saw soon had those offending obstructions out of the way.

With those metal tabs gone, the old slipped right out and the new slid right back in.

Mission accomplished and thanks for the help.
