A colleagues truck that is a twin to mine has an intermittent no start issue. It is an 05 f250 6.0 auto with the egr delete, have replaced most injectors, ARP studs, has around 180-190k. Runs great, starts great cold but after sitting 10-15 minutes after warmed up it may or may not start without very extended crank times. It almost always starts but about every 3rd or 4th time it cranks for a ridiculously long time then starts and runs normal. One dealer tech spent nearly 2 days with it and gave up. Tried the ficm, icp, cam& crank sensors, hpop, pcm, 2 different shops & a whole bunch of frustration. Last comment from dealer tech was to maybe try a whole different harness. He is still driving it daily but it gets way too much idle time now for fear of no restart. This is a testament to how well the starter (original) has held up though. Any thoughts???

HPO system leak. Need to air test the HPO system and find the source of the leak, being an 05 I would suspect the standpipes and dummy plugs. But could also be STC fitting starting to fail or oil rail nipple orings or the top o'ring in the injectors or a combination of those. Could also be the HPOP but less likely than the other possibilities. You also need gauges that read live data like scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like Dashboss for IOS devices or torque for android, they are an absolute necessity in diagnosing these trucks.

hpo air test was one of the first tests by the tech. Checked out good. It is apparently electrical. The first shop had all the latest Snap on diagnosis equip and of course the dealer had the Ford stuff but showed no clues other than an occasional cps prob but that possibility was eliminated. He even pulled both sensor harnesses and load tested them off truck

this is useally the first to go for ,have you check lpop and look in the oil houseing to see if your pumping oil , also check fuel filter houseing to see if getting fuel ,whats fuel Pressure reading? whats FICM vlt? whats V-ref?
