I have a 90 Bronco EB Edt. IT runs great and looks good too (I did some bondo work on the wheel wells and bottom of the doors 2 years ago, and it looks like im gonna do it again this year but thats no biggie)
But I dont know, excuse me.... ive never installed an engine, now my dad has installed more than the months ive been alive (ALOT) and my questions is....
If I was to buy a refurbished engine, how much would be the total cost of everything (no labor, cuz I know ppl who could install it and have a grage to do it in)
But could I still use all my old computer stuff and intake and all of that?
I have knowledge of automotive work, but like I said ive never installed a engine is a car before.
Also, Im looking into a new exhaust, im looking for something that would give me better performance (gas milage)
Does flow master just make a sweet sound or do they help with performance?
What are some good alternatives to FlowMaster?
Also sence I cant weld, could ou just take a muffler (After market) to a shop and say "install this please"?
to the flowmaster question, yes they say you should notice a difference in power along with the cool tone. to really notice the difference i would completly replace the old exsahst. exsahst shops tend to be preaty happy to do that for you for a price ofcourse. in my case i am having them install every bit of piping from the shorty headers of mine to dual flowmaster 40's and out the back. all with the total price of 500$ including muflers and 2.5 inch piping all around. im quite happy with that deal.
and yes if you get the same size engine to replace the old one besure it was ment for fuel injection(i have herd that EFI ford motors had different heads??) and all the wiring will wotk too.
Put a new Ford long block 302 in my 92 XLT about two years ago. Total cost was around $2300 after I replaced everything I wanted to. Long block from Ford was $1600-$1800 as I recall. Good friend and my brother helped me with the project. Took about a week of "after work" sessions to complete.
If you are looking for a COMPLETE exhaust system and not just a CAT back or new muffler, my vote is (as everyone probably knows) Bassani. Great sound and performance improvements to. Online www.bassani.com and online dealer that I would recommend www.proficientperformance.com Emissions legal in most states AFAIK.
