Well an np435 will, if you get a bellhousing of a 351m or 400 and the accessory brackets of a 429/460, but you will have to change the PS pump, and the motor mounts will have to be reworked.
either that or just rebuild the 360 -A good running 360 will get the job done .
yes there is no replacment for displacement but the wallet will get thinner IF you have to spend money on a new 390 crank rods and pistons
I'd go with the 460. With it being "moderately built", you have the option of being LEADER of the pack, or you can run WITH the pack ~~~ whichever YOU choose and whenEVER you choose. The 460 screams!! I'm very happy with the swap and I'm sure Texaco is....
It's not too bad to put a 460 in place of a 360. I've done it in a '74. The frame perches for the 360 will work. The motor mounts off the 360 will work on the 460 with minor modifications. The power steering pump bracket will work if modified, as well as the alternator. Get a c6 from a lincoln with a 460 and tear it down. Take the truck tailshaft and housing and assemble it in the 460 main housing with all the guts. C6's are a breeze to build. You will have to build a puller to remove the last piston in the case. I think this is the reverse piston? Headers fit easily. I used the cheap hedman headers with no problems. I cut a hole in the crossfront crossmember to gain access to the oil drain plug. I don't have the truck now, but know where it is. I can take some pics of the perches and describe the mods to the motor mounts. Let me know if I can help. Dave
