Replacing Fuel Injectors?

I have an '01 F250 Superduty XLT Turbodiesel 4x4 7.3L truck with 275k miles. It's been horribly difficult to start in cold weather recently, and we've narrowed it down to the fuel injectors. I'm told I ought to get refurbished ones and replace those (and then the wire harness and glowplugs, etc) and the O-rings. However, as I'm sure everyone knows, that's going to run me about $1200-$2000 in parts alone. Maybe $3500-ish if I pay someone to do that.
I've heard about just manually cleaning the fuel injectors and then replacing the O-rings (soak them in solution and blow all the junk out a few times) but I'm wondering how effective that would be on my diesel truck. I was told that opening up and removing the injectors will disturb that part of the truck and it's hard enough to get to anyway, so I should just replace them.
Any input?
It's a great idea to replace your glow plugs while you are in there. The valve cover and injector harnesses are reusable so there is no need to replace those unless they are damaged.
Getting to the injectors isn't really that hard. Here is a thread that may help with some tips.
