I have a 2003 Ex with a 6.0 installed. My battery light has been flickering lately. It started only once a month for a few seconds at a time and has become shorter times between the light coming on and the length of time the light is on has become longer.
Most recently it was on for about 45 seconds while cruising at 55 mph or so. I had my logger setup the whole time and FICM voltage was above 48.5, FICM Logic 13.5V, and battery voltage (per the OBD port) was around 13.6V.
I know that the alternator in the truck now is a reman from 2011 so I am not surprised that it is failing again. I do get a large discount at Ford (35% or so) and was wondering if there are any high output options available from the factory. Based on the VIN mine should be a 110 AMP output currently.
Any suggestions on brands, current ratings, etc. Cost is not as much of a factor as getting a new alternator in by the weekend.
