Have a friend with a '94 Explorer that is having problems with not starting. Searched past posts and only saw a few with similar problems that never really were resolved. Its a female relating the problem to another female then to me so I dont have many details. I had a similar problem with my '95 f-150 it turned out to be the stator in the distributor. Any thoughts? Will try to collect more info and post soon as I can. Thanks.
Begin by telling us if it's cranking and not starting or if it won't crank. If it cranks, then before you turn turn the key have a helper stand by the fuel tank. Turn the key on but don't crank and listen for a buzz, indicating electric fuel pump operation. Post the results to us. Also tell us what engine it has in it.
Look in the Ranger forum for similar problems and replies since the 4.0L V6 in a Ranger is the same as the Explorer and many performance issues are common to both. I posted feedback to a guy with a Ranger in the last week that was having the crank but no start problem but before we go there please answer the above.

Yeah from what I understand it is cranking. Talk to the girl yesterday she said it was driving along just fine started to sputter then died. Says sometimes when trying to start it it almost starts like coughs once or twice but wont start. That sounds to me like a fuel stavation problem, no? I guess she took it to a shop yesterday but if its the one I am thinking it is the are a bunch of scamers, so it will probably cost her a bunch of money and they wont fix it properly. Anyway tanks for the idea to look in the Ranger section, will do. Late.
