Today kid needed more drive time, so had him drive me to get blood work done. When we were finished he wanted to go hunting (looking for mustang fastbacks he can dream of buying). While out driving in the bustling metropolis of Burbank Washington I saw a monkey face tow truck and a sweet f1. Both would be projects but we had bond time andh kid and he got to drive his Mustang GT, oh yeah also found out the machine shop I use to use is still in business. He will mic the 292 and tell me what I need. He does balancing as well. I plan on balancing the 292 even though it will be no more than .050 over. Do you think that is a waste of money???
I'm a strong proponent of balancing. It just makes sense from an engineering point of view. Dallas' major ( and only large yet competent) rebuilder gets $250 to balance the rotating assembly of a Y block. In fuel savings and starter motor life over the years, I'm comfortable with that.
I balanced a 383 I built and was happy, not sure what the cost will be but I'm sure it's around the same price. To be honest I plan on doing it because it just seems to make sense. The build tolerances in late 50's and early 60's were not as tight as they are now besides It will probably allow for safer rpm's on hiway.
If I remember correct, it was on right side of freeway, but then again we were also hunting in Finely. I saw a red iffie off 27th with the hood off. I was more interested in spending time with the kid. Since I got sick I seem to cherish the simple moments.

You have your priorities in order, and I hope you get better! And I agree, get the engine balanced, it can only be better for it.
Yeah I will. When we tear it down I will post pictures if anything just to show what people will do to a block and then put it together. Oh the kid said the tow truck was in Finley, some guy has a driveway that wraps around his yard and he has a longbed uni-body and some car with number painted on #93 I think.
