Don't know much about pre 2000,but im looking at maybe the chev 2500 LTZ(say 2011) might be my next truck 6.6 Duramax is a good motor and the Allison 1000 auto (Allison have been building auto's for years) the ONLY thing I don't like is the independent front end, it would be a nice ride, but a headache to do 4 inch or above lift, but other than that I reckon they are a great looking truck with the right accessories added..
Oh I wish they would do a T-bar auto like the DODGE RAM has in some models..
So reading through here, im not getting a good vibe about the 2010 F350. Might give it a pass. Next qstn, what are the main reasons you guys would not buy a chevy, wife wants to get a 1500 to pull her horse float but i know nothing of chevys etc etc. Thanks
Only thing that is no good is that stinking EGR and DPF get rid of those 2 and with the help of the right chip the thing will get up and boogy
I looked at the Chev before I got my 2012 250. I liked the look of the Chev on the outside but the inside (conversion) didn't look great.
There are two places in Melbourne that do them. One is good, the other not so good (but not bad, just the standard of the other place was better).
The converted dash on the Chev is fibreglass. I don't like the idea of that in an accident at all. The F-250 is a plastic dash (same as original). Also check out the equivalent ANCAP rating (can't remember what the US version is called). From memory the Ford was 5 but the Chev 2 (or 3). In any case, not good for the Chev.
All that, and the quality of the interior and fixed front axle, made the Ford a better choice.
ok so test drove a few chevys and dodges, and then a mate told me to play with his 05 F250 for the weekend, well im hooked, 500 dollar deposit on it. Big differance from havein a 4.2 extra cab to a 7.3 crew cab with captains charis etc etc, even the wife is hooked, thanks for all you guy help. Matt
ah we have another victim. You wont be disappointed with the 7.3.
The one thing I do like about the Ram (cummins) is there is more room to put more turbo's. Hehehehe
The engine bay is certainly a lot cleaner in a Cummins - altho our 7.3's are a lot cleaner than any of the newer PSD's too. I want a 6.7 Ford, but I don't know what I will do if I ever have to work on it... dance around on all the plastic and wiring?
