here is my situation. After a carb rebuild, on cold start i can press the pedal just barely and with a few rev of the starter it starts right up. when its warm it will start with ust a bump of the key. After driving it around the block the smoke really starts to pour it on, and it starts to smoke from under the hood. Oil has built up around the collector of the driver side exhaust manifold.
The truck sat for 10 years. I used the bg products 109 formula for preoilchange engine flush and then added some MOA after changing the oil with valvoline high mileage 10-40.
My question is does this sound like valve stem seals? The 5.0 mustang i had smoked and i found a leaky valve seal.
The valve cover gaskets are good. NO oil in any of the spark plug areas either. It is actually dripping out of the collector. I do need to find a compression tester.
Only did 5, 6, 7, and 8..... I dont know what stock or good compression should be but I'm a pretty big guy and should be able to hold a tester in the hole while my gf turns the motor over. I will post the lowest numbers i got and it was 5=115, 6=110, 7=110, and 8=135 and blowing oil out of the hole. #8 kept pushing my hand out of the hole and blowing oil by the tester all over my right arm. I'm guessing this has to be valve stem seals right?
