What replacement bulbs would give me better illumination at night? I do not want to give on-coming traffic a sunburn, but the stock lighting is very poor.
I got some 9007 replacements off ebay. I think they are around 5000k color temp. They are brighter than stock, but will not blind oncoming traffic. Nice white light.
Try here Lynn, after you read it e-mail the gentleman for his recommendations with the year and model of your truck. The man knows what he's talking about. http://lighting.mbz.org/
Don't buy into that nonsense of "blue" lights or extra high wattage bulbs,if you melt your sockets or wiring harness Ford won't warranty it.
Better head lights... you've got to be kidding! Half the oncoming traffic I encounter now flashes their head lights at me because they think I have my brights on.
Check adjustment against a brick wall somewhere and make sure that is all good expecially is others are high beaming you. A new bulb or different design could effect the direction somewhat but the mirror does most of the work.
Forget the bulb replacements. If you can afford it I would go true HID. You wont believe the difference, I got the HID foglights as well as the Sylvania HID headlights. It looks like daylight in front of my truck and they dont blind oncoming traffic. There is no substitute!
I've got Sylvania Silverstars. They're not bad, but I don't think they're worth the $25. However, they do look great. I've got clear corners with clear bulbs, and the Silverstars make the clear corners look brown
The visibility is great. IMO, it's a decent alternative to real HID (although there is no substitute for REAL HID).
This place has HID conversion kits for about $300-400:
