Let's call it a "Restomod"... a restored but modified rig. A nice rig doesn't have to cost alot... it's all in the details.
Engine/Drivetrain:
Headers, dual exhaust, and free-flowing mufflers.
4 bbl carb, intake, and a mild cam
... down the road, and AOD trans swap with 3.50 rear gears. Fun out of the hole and easier on the wallet on long hauls.
Suspension:...Stock height
Bilstein shocks
Poly bushings (Energy Suspension)
Front swaybar (OEM or AddCo)
Exterior:
Wheels and tires.. stock steel 15x6 in front wearing 225/70-15s and 15x8 in back wearing 275/60-15s. Paint 'em semi-gloss black and slap on some dog dish hubcaps.
Air dam from an Econoline
For detail, replace the upper bumper bolts with a set of driving or fog lights. go big with 7-inch rounds. Avoid DC Daylighters cuz they look more the part on 4x4s. I suggest Cibie Super Oscars of Hella Rallye 2000s to be different.
Add a third brake light .. just to be different.
Auxiliary back-up lights
Blackout the center section of the rear end wrapping around each tail light and extending horizontally across. Apply a contrasting but coordinating vinyl "FORD" applique to the raised tailgate letters.
Dock bumper? Refinish it in bright silver or black. Apply bedliner to the step area.
Apply bedliner to the bed
Tint the windows.... limo tint on the back and 10% to the sides.
Interior:
Replace the carpet... it's like putting on clean underwear.

Keep the bench cuz you've got an auto trans! Gotta have the girlie next to ya!
15-inch steering wheel
12VDC cooling can... ya know, like what truckers use. It's cool old school.
Dash mat (black)
Decent head unit and 6.5-inch door speakers
Big rig air horn... mount the push button next to the high-beam switch.
Plug n chug cup holders... in mounts in the ashtray slot.
Fire extinguisher... cuz ya never know.
Upgrades:
130-amp alternator swap
Headlight relays/wiring harness.
