Introduction and a question

I have been lurking on here for awhile now and thought it was time for an intro. I've been looking for a F-1 for some time and finally found what I was looking for online a couple months ago. Made a deal sight unseen and arranged for the truck to be shipped to me. "Belle Pepper" arrived the end of April and was promptly stolen! My wife fell in love and Belle quickly became her truck, but she has let me drive Belle a couple times. As it was explained to me I already had a 56 Fairlane and my wife grew up riding around in early 50's trucks on logging trips with her dad so, it should be hers.

So far Belle has exceeded our expectations. Has no rust and, I can only find a couple places where it appears any panel repairs have been done. We did replaced the tires as they were rotting and went from 235's to 215's so it was easier steering, wish we could have done wheels too. Adjusted the valves, someone had used silicone on both sides of the intake gasket, much cursing was done. Also replaced the voltage regulator and rebuilt the generator, this is a 8 volt system so it was a learning experience.

We plan to drive her as is for the next year or so to replenish our funds (Wife decided to work another year so she could afford to improve Belle), then install independent IFS, a 5.0 mod motor and 5 speed. Rear end was already changed to a 9 inch. Well that's the plan anyway as we are both falling in love with the Flathead.

As for the question, you can see in the photos the lower bed extensions have the Ford logo stamped in them. I assumed the bed had been replaced and the new bed came that way or someone fabricated them. I have searched online and cannot find them anywhere. I have looked from under the truck to see if they were welded into the panels but no, and have asked friends and at shows if anyone has seen them before, again no. Have any ideas?

Wow. I look at probably dozens of F-1's on the internet every day out of habit alone. I've never seen one with that Ford script stamping in the bed like that. Welcome! Beautiful truck! Got any more pics? My vote is to keep the flathead.

I'm assuming you got the truck back. Are you going to tell us where you buried the body??

Second the welcome and second keeping it stock.

Welcome and congratulations on the truck. That appears to be a very nice machine. I've not seen the stamped script either in that location.

Hey Mike,
Welcome Aboard! Beautiful truck. Where did you find it?
Any other customizations on the truck other than the logo?

Looking good over there in Rimrock!

Welcome! You bought the best looking 48-52 truck, a 52 5 Star Extra truck.

I see what you mean about the wheels. I think the truck would look better with the original 16" wheels. I vote to keep the flathead and as of it as original as possible. They're only original once.

Lastly, judging by how clean that bed is, it's likely a repro. Probably the manufacturer stamped in the Ford script.

Real nice truck !! I think I saw that script piece in a Sacramento Vintage Ford catalogue. Kind of a "custom show" thing. Good luck with your wife's truck
