Having the same problem as you. Numberdummy advised me to get the exact replacement for my '92, 4.9, PCM code T2D1. Its expensive too. $177 on Ebay, and $200 at parts store. Suffix on mine was ASB IIRC. I dont have the link to my post, but its recent. Another member posted a link to repaired PCM's and it was $159.
And as Conaski mentioned, its not gonna run well with the 302 PCM. I contemplated that since I have a spare one.
A 302 ECU on a 300 engine will get your butt home, but its not going to run good, the 302 ECU is expecting 2 more cylinders and has major brain farting trying to run a 6 cylinder engine.
A 300 ECU on a V8 engine will run OK, but it won't be top notch performance wise.
Its best to get the correct ECU for your engine/tranny combo
They reman. tons of computers, they will ask for your VIN, exact part number and calibration code.
Just make sure what they ship you matches your original, the first computer they sent me was VERY close and I didn't even notice it was wrong at first they sent a F2TF-12A650-APB and I needed an -ATB
thanks for all the replies so quickly. it helps a person out alot when he is double thinking problems. ty all again. i hope to return the favor some time.
