Well, one of my support cables for the tailgate finally broke today (went to sit on it while waiting at a store for my stuff to be brought out) and snap! Or do I nead to lose some weight??? LOL Where should I look to buy a set? Auto Zone, dealer (I dont like that option) or where. Thanks for any help.
Nah, your weight is prob a-ok...it's the heavy inanimate objects that cause problems...lol...mine became tangled once and frayed the cable, so this happens.
Replace both at sametime...I just replaced one of mine last week and the one I bought from autozone was a hair shorter than the good old one I have...Guess it must have streached over time or just from different manf. So, now my new cable catches the wait of the tailgate before the other side causeing the tailgate to be twist or wrap to even out the wieght....hope this helps
Well, my local parts store has them. I called last night and will swing by for a set. They are 13.99 there but I guess I would save any shipping cost! LOL Thanks for all the help. I hate having to buy stuff at the dealer and for some reason never thought the local parts store would carry them. Take it easy.
yo pez,
It is the same here; local shops can get you just about anything within 24 hours; it's a big diff from a decade ago when the owners around here wouldn't go out of their way to order anything that they didn't usually stock.
I see you've done almost the same to your XL as we did to our XL.
Have you checked your oil pan for rust? Our's started rusting last fall.
I have been under my truck a few times and have not noticed any rust on the pan. Before I bought it last year someone did a pretty good job of cleaning and undercoating/painting under the truck. It looked almost new when I bought it. It actually worried me it looked so good so I kept an eye on it for several months wondering if a rusting problem would show up. It has been about a year so I think it would have popped through by now if it was going too. I will look at the pan again just in case. I hear pulling that out is a pain!
