That's cool, can't wait to see her all done. This is mine (before and after). It's a 1004 (referred to as the "sales maker"), modern for the time but still cool.

I pumped gas at a station that had those exact pumps... started on the hand crank reset (like the 906) we thought we were hot stuff when we got electrics with the push button reset... I remember knowing it was close to quitting time in the summer when we turned on the globe lights... we closed at 9 pm but never got out till 10 or later... seems the phone would ring at 8:55 with a flat to go change or a dead battery across town... my boss wouldn't turn down a 5 buck service call in another state !
wonder how many guys noticed how many digits were on the price reels...
All very nice, Wally. The shop turned out great and the new truck seems to match your goodies very well. It's like a plan all came together. Welcome back to the F1 owners club.
Now you have to tell us a little about your truck!

Dan, I've been looking for an affordable '48-'56 Ford since I sold my '51 last December. I hated to sell her but I didn't have a choice, I needed the money to finish the garage. Last week I spotted this one on craigslist and it was only about an hour away. the owner wanted $9k and claimed it was a frame off resto last spring. I emailed him through cl since he didn't give a phone number. After a few days, I figured it was sold then the guy called me. I asked all the usual questions but since it was an hour away I asked if the guy could send me some pics. He emailed me a few photos showing his resto and it looked promising (see pics). When he bought it, it already had a 1969 Ford 390 in it with a C6 tranny. He replaced the box and fenders and the cab was still in great condition. My wife wasn't so excited because she thought that I would go crazy spending money and working day and night to replicate my last one. I called him back and told him that I liked the truck but I would have to pass. He was eager to sell so he asked me to make him an offer anyway (he wanted to buy a '46 Chevy that was afraid he couldn't get if he didn't buy it soon). I offered him $8k cash (as long as the pics and the truck matched) and he countered my offer by driving the truck to me (like 100 miles) and he'd take $8200. An hour and a half it showed up and looked pretty nice so I bought it. (I'm selling my 2004 Harley to offset the cost, a deal I made with the Mrs.) I'm not going to change the suspension like the old one or buy expensive wheels, etc... I'm just going to add a toyota steering set up, and put disc brakes up front. I added the dog dishes so a fresh set of rubber will finish off the wheels. It needs some TLC, (ie. wiring, tune up, interior work, little piddly stuff really) so thats the story behind 'ol red.
Hey Wally,
In the answer above you talk about not needing to do much - just piddly stuff. Then in the pics that follow you have the entire front clip off & it looks like the radiator has escaped. You also have a cow on your hood.
How's going over there? Just messing with you - it looks like a very nice truck - How does it run?

Those photos proved that he did indeed do a restoration on the truck. It came to me assembled (but dirty and a little neglected). My neighbor begged me for the Mac dog hood ornament (he helps me out all the time) so off it went. It runs pretty good, idles a bit lumpy (and I don't think there's a racing cam in it) but it starts and drives pretty nice. I have to invest an afternoon and go through the basics (ignition, carb, etc.) The guy just didn't finish what he started. It came with an interior kit (headliner, kick panel covers, door covers, etc.) and I installed that, I even bolted the seat down since he only had two loose bolts holding it in place. Fun project, can't wait to work on it this weekend.
