I did the same thing back in June of 2012 and its working fine. My cooler is about four times larger. Drive it a while and feel the aluminum line to see how hot it is. Mine is cooler now than it was before.
I did. It gets warm but not hot. I don't run over sized tires or anything so i think it will be ok. If it ever does get too hot there are a few larger sizes i can upgrade to.
Before I changed anything when the truck was all original the lines would be hot to the point that you could hold on to them but a few more degrees and you would have to let go or it would burn you. now that the cooler is in place the lines are warm but not as hot. I did double clamp mine for good measure.
I blew out the old cooler with my air compressor. I pulled the original rubber lines off the top of the radiator and tied them off just in case I every need them again. I did not seal the original rubber lines or radiator ports.
The new cooling coil has been in and working perfectly for quite a while now.
I did not want to disturb the air conditioning evaporator coil to fix the leak in the power steering cooling coil. Both coils are one unit and expensive I'm sure.
Sir i would like to know what cooler you used and any line modifications you may of done my expedition is leakingcst cooler would like to bypass original one

I purchased an add on transmission cooler (the one use when pulling trailers) at a local auto store. It measures 10" X 5" X 1" thick both connections were on the same 5" end and it had four rows of tubing from end to end. I did double clamp the hose connections for safety (not sure of the pressures) and used fuel line to make the connections. It worked perfectly for years.
