GT40 Heads Swap

I have a 1992 F150 5.0 4x4 as of right now. I currently have obtained a 1998 Mercury Mountineer which has the 5.0 GT40 heads. All I want to do is use the GT40 heads on my f150. I've seen a few threads but none specifically to mine.

There is nothing specific in this swap actually, the F-150 up to 1996 had the E7 heads, which are the same you have right now, so you can use any F-150 E7 --> GT40 swap thread as a guide for your procedure.

Double check those heads; if you have a '98 Mountaineer engine, I believe you have the GT40P heads and not the GT40 heads. GT40P Heads require some finessing to get headers/manifolds set up properly.

GT40P heads require either the FRPP shorty headers (or any one that is advertised to work with P heads) or you can run 90 degree spark plug wires and you MIGHT have to do a little bending on cylinders 4 and 5's exhaust tubes.

If the "P" stands for performance than yes the are GT40p heads and I'm looking forward to the project if we don't sell the Mountineer.

I hope they are regular GT40 heads and not P heads. Being a 98 I think that won't be the case.
