Flathead heads
How come RH flahead heads are so cheap, ie $40. Most every flathead supplier carries them. Are these NOS left over from a huge supply or are they Chinese junk. My machinest charges more to surface flatheads.

Are you saying LH heads are more expensive? I assume you mean 8BA/8RT heads. I've sent two to the scrapper, have a couple more ready to go. Everyone buys aluminum heads unless they are doing a resto. For every set of aluminum heads sold, there are two cores created. Plus the heads don't generally get damaged like the blocks do. Never seen iron heads go for more than $20 at the swap meets.

I never see anyone get beer money for original heads. I have a set I threw in the shed but like Albuq F-1 said everyone swaps to Aluminum heads.
I like seeing the old iron heads on a clean engine but they have no real value.

aluminum is purty but can be pricey !! i'll keep my stockers . i had noticed the big price difference my self and was curious . i hit swap meets when i can guy's and the flathead stuff just isn't there around here , and if you got something they dont wanna pay the price for it . i'm still sitting on those two blocks , good ones the 40 and 41 , and was asking 200 a peice for 'em and everyone around here whines about the price . i didnt think it was bad . i wouldnt mind coming up with an extra set of heads myself as it never hurts to have extra parts , especially for this old iron .
