yes another no start issue

finally found HPOP and it was a bit low , put some oil in and also topped off engine oil .. recharged batteries after hard cranking every afternoon since breakdown ... guess what ............ it started ... let's hope it starts in the morning .... thanks for all the guidance folks ,, much appreciated . All I need to do now is find someone local who can help me out and show me some stuff .

Might want to go get those batts tested.

update on starting issues .. finally got truck to start somewhat normally for a few weeks although still more difficult to start in the afternoon when weather is warm to hot ( not sure if this is an issue ) ... tried to start with no success .. decided to get new batteries and still no start .. checked fuel filter and it is clean ( 2 weeks old ) and full of fuel .. checked fuses for looseness and looked at 30amp fuses for condition ( all ok .. but having no book I do not know what fuse does what ) .. new batteries have been run down trying to get started .. truck will fire for a second or two using ( diesel approved ) starting fluid but I have no throttle when it fires . I am starting to wonder if I did the right thing buying this truck ( but I do love the truck when it runs )..

another update

well finally , after having my truck sitting in my driveway for 2 weeks , 2 brand new batteries , another CPS ... I finally found a mechanic who was willing to take a look ... ran a code scan ( using a snap-on scan tool ) and found 3 codes .. disconnected Edge programmer and retested ... returned 1 code and discovered the IDM was the suspect .. removed IDM and plugged it into another 7.3 ( the mechanics ) and he also had no start .. he plugged his IDM back in and his truck started first turn .. so I am ordering an IDM on as soon as possible and hopefully I will be back on the road ... mechanic also buzzed the injectors and checked pressures while he was there and all were excellent ... fingers crossed .

at last

it was the IDM ... possibly a result of the chip going bad ( Edge Juicer ) so with the programmer disabled and the new IDM the truck starts fine and runs fine albeit a bit quieter and less smoke , but let's face it I'm not into racing the truck , and I don't need all the black smoke like the younger guys are into ..... just glad to have my truck running ... I thank all of those who had input , it was invaluable info .
