Not to long ago I bought an incomplete set of 2002(or 2001) F350 axles. Front is a dana 60 and rear is a 10.25. The dana 60 needs the long side axle, and both sides need locking hubs. Should I just buy a complete set of each sides hubs? Going to redo bearings and seals on the axles when I go to put them on. I'm looking to put them on my '85 f250( SAS swap to get rid of the crappy D44HD TTB) and I already have a Sterling 10.25 in the rear. Would be very convienent if I could swap out the rear 'hubs' to get the super duty bolt pattern on the wheels, which raises the question- can I just simply swap that? If I cant then no biggy, the truck has 3.73s now and the SD axles have 3.73s. I bought a set of aluminum wheels (16.5s) with 35"" BFG all-terrains for 100$ and found out they weren't 8x6.5 when i went to put them on... so I bought these axles for $230. Can you guys point me at a place to buy everything?
If you guys want pics i can take pictures of tags and number if so.
EDIT1: This looks like what i need(minus the locking hub,(for both sides) and the fact its for 09+): http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...-assembly.html
I'll need to re-check but I think I need that outer? piece of the axle, on the other side of the U-joint, but i'm not sure.
As a side note, my dad has an '01 F250(CCSB 7.3 4x4) and he has had to work on his Dana 50 a couple of times, replacing the passenger hub twice. Would working on this Dana 60 be almost 100% identical and what parts interchange?

Reason: Added BGY link.

I would, as long as you are rebuilding everything.

Maybe. Seems to be worth trying, anyway.

The Dana 50 and 60 are very similar, but not exact.
EDIT: It's a confirmed Dana50 by the casting number on the pumkin and the 1 1/8 pinion nut.
More or less ignore this ---->Im gonna post pictures soon of tags and codes and stuff. Everything i've read says the D60 came back in 2000, so it MIGHT be a D60 as i cant confirm the 9" ringgear, but it seemed really close to being 9"s.(its definatly a 50)
Read 'fo shizzle: Also i counted about 42 or 43 teeth on the ring gear, what else do i need to know to who the gear ratio for sure?
PS: I really dont know my way around an axle yet, so taking the diff cover off is as far as im going by myself.

Reason: to organize
Doing the solid axle swap will be a bit of work but worthwhile. Radius arm mounts, Panhard rod mount. Lots to do.
D50 vs. D60 will be pretty much all the same procedures to work on, but don't count on any parts being the same.
Re: Rear. Since yours is already a Sterling then one would assume the hubs might be the same other than the stud pattern. Worth pulling one off each axle and checking it all with calipers to see if it'll swap. Sure would be nice to use those wheels/tyres you got and have the same at both ends.
Will read that info. I read up on the sterling rears and it appears that the 10.25 used from 85 to current is very similar, with the RP being 10.5" now vs 10.25" and in 92 they slightly changed the design of it. Won't hurt to try I guess, I have plenty of axles laying around lol.

-everything from the knuckle out is the same on the D50 and D60 front axle
-swapping in the solid Super Duty axle is easy, just bolt her in the spring mounts and width are the same. You will have to change your steering links from the TTB front end to the F350 parts from the 1997 older F350 Heavy Duty truck
-the tract bar is going to be the tricky part your best bet is to find the F350 parts off a truck in a scrap yard and remove your TTb parts and bolt in the F350 parts on your F250 frame. All the holes etc are in your frame already, then your most likely;y going to have to buy two heim joints and make your own tract bar or possibly change a 1997 older F350 tract BAR TO FIT THE super duty FRONT AXLE
Do I NEED a trac bar? And I actually already have an '02 SD steering box lying around...coincidence!? I think not !!! I have so much super duty parts lol.
Might not even do this swap, my friends dad has a 95 cummins for sale and be lowered the price from 4000 to 3000. It's not a POS either, typical cracked dash and dirty interior, 4x4, the better 47rh, club cab, only needs head gasket and 2 gauges fixed and ill be ripping Chevys in half in no time lol.
