I would say no more than 210f on a hot day. I pull a 33ft TT in the smokie mountains a lot and rarely it will bump 220

Thx,
Not sure how that measures out on my pyrometer. Gauges go up by 200 at a time, I'm running at about 7-800 when I'm stompin around.
I just don't tow much and was sitting around 1400 going up some of the steep inclines while maintaining a 100km

1400?! That's pretty high as long as its not sustained for more than a minute or two.

I prefer not to maintain exhaust gas temps in excess of 1350 for extended periods of time. Selecting a lower gear usually lowers the temps quite a bit.

Have you checked for boost leaks?? UP-pips leaking??when you are towing, what RPMS??Boost??is it smoking a lot?? If everything is well,I would get with Jody @ DP..

I was pretty sure it was too high, and was not maintaining for long. Wasn't smoking much at all and was in tow mode 80, RPMS were sittin around 2500. I did just have the waste gate hooked back up so I didn't get carried away while trompin on it.
Have not checked for leaks. Really hard to find a good diesel mech up here without getting run around, I've spent probably6-7000 just trying to get it set up properly and its always one thing or another after I get it back from a shop. I've been to like 5 different shops in last yr and I'm running out of cash and patience! I'm trying to learn as much as I can but cant afford to have a lot of down time on truck.

You can check for leaks yourself..check for suit between the back of the turbo and firewall..here is a link to a picture of a homemade leak tester..Super easy..https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...o-problem.html.. Take a look at post #4

I just noticed you have stage two injectors, who's your tuner? You mitt have to have it retuned. There's been a big change in the last few years in tuning and EGT's. Don't run at 1400 degree's for to long. You'll waste your motor. They can tune to lower them easily. 80T mitt be to high for your load.

So I made a leak tester up and definitely have a leak, boot off Stage 2 is beat up so I'm picking one up this am, but I think the hard plastic piece that connects it to the Garrett turbo tube is leaking where it connects to the valve cover but its hard to tell.

Thx again for the link, I let you know how I fair out

If you have the 60t it will lower your EGT's quite a bit. pulling my horse trailer with 1 horse I was hitting 1200 on the pyro. Pulling 4 horses I switched to 60t and only hit 900. Tho 4000lbs trailer should be good on 80t.
