Carter 1 barrel reassembly issues

i will begin by saying this: i have rebuilt some Motorcraft 2 barrels and a few Holleys, but never a carter 1 barrel.

So, last january, i parked my 1981 F150, 300/c6 2wd truck "Clyde" in a snow bank, swung open the hood, and unbolted the leaky, gunky 1 barrel. i took it inside, tore it apart carefully, and put it all in carb dip for 2 days. i pulled it out, put it on the large tray i have used to reassemble carbs, and went and got a carb kit and a few other tidbits.

Then life happened.

So, here we are at June. i pulled the tray down last week, carefully hand wiped everything clean, and went to reassemble.

I dont remember how to put the damn thing together.

I got out my manuals, no exploded views. i looked around online a bit, couldnt find anything. i have a new carb kit sitting here, i dont remember if it has an exploded view in it or not, i dont want to break the seal on it, because it then becomes "non returnable"

Can someone help me out?? it's time to get this truck up and moving again... i have an engine swap planned, but that is a year or two down the road.

I bought a reman last year from National Carb, after discovering mine had been gooberized by the PO, two buddies, four cases of beer, and a herd of gerbils.

But - you can download the 24-page manual here, for $7.95:

At this point in the game, i was ready to plunk down $200 for a carb... until i saw that they would not take disassembled carbs as cores.

I know you've gotten plenty of help on this already, but there are also some photos of my Carter partially assembled in my photo album: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Dorsai's Album: Truck of Doom

Slap it back together best you can, they don't look that close at the core

I used to sell cores to a rebuilder supplier from Delaware. Some of the stuff I sold him was literally thrown together enough to look correct. All I can say is, I would never buy a rebuilt carb knowing what I sold the rebuilders.

I guess I need to go look at my collection of YFA carbs and maybe rebuild a couple.

ok guys, change of plans....

I'm looking for a mostly functional YFA carb to bolt onto the truck to get it running again. I am not expecting rebuilt, like new, or anything like that. I can tune it to work properly, no issue. can somebody hook me up?

i'm im trying to get the truck running again so that i can start driving it while ironing out the engine swap plans.... so the less cash outlay, the better.

I can look at what I have, some of them came from my old shop when the guy I sold it to closed it. I think they were rebuilt at the time. Is yours a feedback or non-feedback? BTW, it will be until probably around June 18th before I am back in Newport News.
