In South America and Africa the "bump sides" were produced until 96 I believe. So there is a lot room to play with when you are asking the year of this thing.
thanks to all! see only started posting and I am already learning, !
I am still trying to get behind the models in SA, it seems (not sure however)that we had bumpsides in the the mid to late sewenties - which does make sense to a certain extent, as we in SA were (and actually still are) always behind in getting certain models, something new in the US or UK would only arrive here in a couple of years, so I think it makes sense - but I might be wrong........the earliest dentsides I see advertised here again starts around 76 to 77.....
tell me something - the white plain grill as on the pictures above - was that std or done later? I seem to see it a lot here on the specific models which makes me think it was std.....not sure however in the US with you guys?
oh yes - sorry Justin forgot to mention the blue one is not mine yet - still negotiating ! I am also looking at these two - the red one unfortunately has no papers whatsoever.......
I do not know the procedure when you buy a truck without papers. I just know that for that price you can buy a truck that is a daily driver and registered on the road. So if you are not to pushed to buy a truck rather keep a look out for one that you really like and where the owner can give you all the info you need, like papers, year model, history ect. I have little experience in this but know what I had to go through (and still in process of) to get my truck licensed with papers that has been scrapped.
What are you looking for and what are your plans for your truck? I am in the market for a second one so I am on the look out and can inform you of some trucks if I come across them.
Did anyone notice how "Ford" was on the tailgate? thats different.
Hi BigBlockMan, yes some of the parts on our SA Built Trucks are different, specially the bed and tailgate part. We also have very little trucks with trimmings ect, if any. The interior also different with round metal cluster.
Our tailgate, you will find this on all our trucks.
And this is our cluster, standard in all our dentsides
Some of the differences pointed out. Apparently there are some similarities between our trucks and the Aussie trucks...
Truck pictured in post 1 would be a 1967 standard cab in the US/Canada. Grille is 1967 only as are the doors that do not have door lock *****...that 1968/72's do have.
The tailgate is unique, not the same as used on US/Canada 1967/72 F100/350 Stylesides.
There are many guys around with these trucks here, but beware for guys who will want to score a major buck out of a purchase or parts, shop around and ask guys like Justin and myself - join an oldies club and they may also be able to assist with many facets of the restoration process.
I have some parts for the older 65-72 model, but very few as i bought the wrong year model wrecked trucks to assist with my 75 rebuild.
Theuns, if you need some new parts give Steven a call from Wrenn Power in Jhb. they've been extrememly helpful with my build and parts almost readily available and not overpriced.
