2002 F350 SRW 7.3L Lariat 4X4. Scored it from a dealer and got rid of that nasty dodge I had. Single owner, all dealer maintained, even got a new tranny last September. Its at 211,000 miles, but runs great! no leaks or issues of any kind. I only wish it had a manual transfer case
This will be a Super Duty that I plan to keep for many years. What do you guys think?
My plans for it include a 4-inch lift and 35s. Engine is bone stock, with a K&N drop-in and I just installed a 5-inch mandrel bent, turbo back exhaust. That turbo sounds rowdy!
Congrat! looks super clean. Get rid of that K&N drop in 1st, can cause issues with your turbo because they tend to not allow the airbox to seal properly.

X2^ on this. I would pull off the intake tube to the turbo and do a quick inspection of the turbo wheel. I have a k+n on the shelf that I never used, if I compare it to a stock filter, I can see how if not installed properly or maintained properly it could leak unfiltered air into the turbo causing dammage to the fins and even worse, the engine. Looks like you found a really nice truck. Good luck!
Do you guys recommend a stock paper air filter? This is my first powerstroke, I've had a cummins before and thats about the extent of my diesel experience.
I believe my turbo may be on its way out. At start up and first acceleration, it sounds like the turbine wheel hits the housiing at 2100 or so rpms. The sound then goes away after it shifts. Then it will not make any sounds. I have full oil pressure, so my only guess is the bearing in the turbo is just starting to show signs of wear.... ideas?
Also, the K&N drop in has only been in for 1500 miles. Could the noise be air sneaking past the seals on the air box?
Actually the stock filter system is pretty good.."AS LONG AS THE TABS TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE FENDER THAT HOLD THE LID IN PLACE IS STILL INTACT"..its a true cold air system..JMHO
I have the 6637 listed in my sig,but I am currently running the stock intake..its quieter
Nice truck! And not just sayin' that cuz it's similar to mine. I like that color combo. Grey interior? Muffler or straight pipe? Got paperwork on the trans to know if it is stock rebuild of the original or ... ?
With some TLC it will last forever. Exhaust is a good start, I'll agree with the others to ditch the K&N drop in. If you like the turbo sounds a 6637 is a great choice, although I eventually got the AIS when I had the coin. As to your turbo, peek in to inspect the turbo blades to see if they are 'dusted'. If not sure post up a pic. Also give it a wiggle; a tiny bit of play is ok but the blades should not contact the housing or move in/out. It can be rebuilt for not much or there are higher output replacements.
Aside from getting the stance right, what are your plans for how will you use it?
I'm verry happy with my AIS also. I'm pushing 400+ hp and no problems. It's not really that expensive compared to other intake set ups. But as long as your factory setup is in good condition, and you are verry careful installing the lid, the factory filter and intake is not all that bad. There are some people here pushing good HP through the factory intake.

It has a tan interior, I'm very happy with it. And no muffler, all strait pipe. I wish I had the paperwork on the trans, I could probably go back to the dealer and get it. I absolutely love the super duty platform, its just my kind of truck. After I sold my 99 and got the dodge, I realized what I just got rid of, and wanted to go back to a 4X4.
My main purpose with it is daily driving. I manage a parts store and make a 30 minute commute, needed 4X4, and wanted a diesel. It would occasionally tow a horse trailer, and tow the occasional 4x4 trail rig. I wanted leaf springs and solid axles. I also wanted a crew cab this time around. I knew it was going to be a 99-04 super duty, but wasn't the biggest fan of the 6.0L. This would be the base to build the truck I wanted, and fit some lift and 35's or even 37's if I wanted.
My long term goal for the truck is an engine swap, drop in a p-pump cummins. It will take a couple years til it's ready(tranny and engine rebuilds, and all the pieces), so for now I'll run it bone stock, maybe add an intake or inter cooler upgrade. I don't plan to sell the truck, ever! I regretted selling my V10, and told myself to find the super duty I wanted and never sell it, lol.
Thanks for the likes guys. I just got her waxed today, I'll get some pics posted.
The wax job. This was my first time using synthetic wax, but it was very easy to use, and buffed out great! Gives it a very wet, shiny look. I'm very impressed with it for now. The wax is Meguire's Ultimate paste wax.
You see the few flaws that are in the paint job, and the fender rust spots. only rust on the truck.
