I just bought a 95 f450 that had a pyro installed the gauge bounces up and down about 200 degrees when your on the throttle when you left of the throttle the guages sits steady. They put the probe in the down pipe.. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Really to get a more accurate reading its better in an exh manifold. what brand of gauge is it? mine does not bounce.just moves depending on throttle.i have an autometer.
On my last trip of almost two thousand miles, I looked down once and mine was laying at the bottom. I thought, oh great, something else to fix. So I drove on guessing at EGT's towing against a head wind and looked down again it was working fine. Beats me what happened, hope it keeps working.
I have a autometer pyro that would spaz out, figured it was the backlight wiring was buggered, cut them and taped em off, no back light now but she reads perfect
It's got 160/30 in it. I did notice that one of the glow plugs wires under the valve cover had bare wire showing and I swapped that harness out for another but not positive that had anything to do with egt gauge
