Sounds like you need a longer driveshaft with a double Cardan joint. For more info, you can look into what James Duff Enterprises (at http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/drivetrain.html) offers. Some local performance shops may also be able to help.

Any grinding of metal off any part of a driveshaft risks throwing it out of balance. At 60 MPH a driveshaft can turn as fast as 3000 RPM That's probably faster than your engine is turning at that speed. So, balance is critical.

If your driveshaft has on one U-joint at each end, with that high a lift, it's bound to bind at the transfer case end. A Double-Cardan (double U-joint at the transfer case end) design is going to be your best solution.

If you can find a good one from a salvage vehicle at a local wrecking yard it's worth a try. If you do and IT doesn't quite fit right, you could see if the end yoke assemblies can be transferred to your original driveshaft. This may solve both your extended length and high driveshaft angle problems.

But beware of imbalance again! After you've gotten the drivetrain back together, drive slow at first. If you start to hear a low whine, or feel vibration in the floor that increases in pitch as you go faster, your driveshaft will need re-balancing. Some auto machine shops can balance a complete assembly for you for a reasonable fee.
