Ring Gear install succesful
I helped a friend put on a ring gear for his '64 Falcon back in in the early '70's.. I needed to put one on for my self & I get nervous thinking ,,ok here goes is this going to work or am I going to mess things up ... I put flywheel in freezer & put ring gear in oven @350 for 45 minutes & it dropped right on..
I was standing in our kitchen all by myself & turned around & wanted to high five someone

I've done it that way many times although I never cooled the F/W. Just heating the ring gear will give enough expansion. All i've ever used is a propane torch. You're right Ross. Science is wonderful.
