So my 06 F-350 is at the dealer now for repair after SCT blew and cracked my rear cover. My question is I had head gaskets and studs done at the dealer last year what are the chances that when they did that they replaced the stand pipes and dummie plugs with the update? The mechanic said he would assume they did, he also said he wasnt going to pull valve covers for his repairs so he wouldnt be able to look and since this is warranty work im trying not to push my luck. Any insight let me know. Thanks
How many miles on your truck? When I was talking to shops for my work they all pretty much said you just can't tell when the STC might fail, yet some never do. I was told the most common issue is the dummy plug o-rings and less often the standpipes. It sure seems those go more with mileage and abuse tho...
The dealers around me only do the minimum, if it ain't broke... There are tons of dealers, for example, that would just replace the EGR cooler when it failed and not the oil cooler
I just wouldn't bet on them having done the DPs and SPs -- but follow Rusty's advice and get them to check the previous job.
How much is left on your warranty? If not much and you don't see the DPs & SPs on the HG job, I'd get an estimate from them to do them now. You've done darn near every other reliability item...
When you purchase the head gasket from Ford you get gasket, head bolts and stand pipe. I would assume they replace the stand pipe since it comes with the head gasket.

That is great to know! Does "stand pipe" mean all 4 HPO tubes? (dummy plugs also). He could look at the P/Ns on the OASIS and see if it's the complete kit or...? I've just seen Ford package stuff differently is all....
No the block off plugs don't come in the box with head gaskets, just bolts and standpipes. The block off are actually listed as hardware part number hm4. Go Fordparts.com

The updated dummy plugs and standpipes take a 12mm allen, rather than the 10mm allen that the old ones take. It is very little work with half the engine apart to open the valve cover and check.
Thanks for all the feed back I found my work order for the head gaskets and did not see the part number for the new dummie plugs. To answer other questions I have 2k left on my extended warranty my truck has 95k on it now and my dealers mechanic has been awesome and has done alot of work for me and done it well. I was just curious because im hoping im at the tail end of it being in the shop since Ive had it the warranty has done about 10k in work( head gaskets with ARP studs, EGR/Oil Cooler, Turbo, FICM and now STC update). He said the same thing that if they did head gaskets that the stand pipes were most likely replaced but he wasnt sure about the dummie plugs. I was also told that since it wasnt a warranty job he would have to charge me a reduced amount to pull valve covers and check them. I would have him do it but need my truck back as soon as I can Im driving it to Northern MN for fishing trip from chicagoland area in a few days. Thanks again guys
Have him do it - if he is already doing the STC, then the turbo is off and there is some good room in there to work- it is only about 10 bolts to pop off the valve cover and check - it should be less than 30min to check, only 15 more if they need to be replaced. The dummy plugs are short and in front - they are the easy part. The standpipes can be a bit trickier
