Hello, I have been reading through the forums on all the no start issues.
What I have is a no start with a no movement on the oil gauge.
I have replaced the fuel filters, egr valve, oil tubes, I have the oil filter to change out but need to buy the right size socket first. What I am seeing is that is that this could be a lpop. When I take the filter out I will see about the fill rate in the bowl.
I have no resources here so I am looking on line for parts and Manuel to see how to do this. I am a first time diesel owner so any help would be great.
Remove the oil filter cap and filter and hold down the drain back valve with a long screw driver and have someone crank the engine and see if it fills. You are gonna need some gauges like scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like dashboss for IOS or torque for android to figure this one out.
How many miles? The gauges as he said will show you what actually is going on. That way we could steer you in right direction. It could be many things from lpop, hpop, icp, hop leak, stc, icp, etc......
changed oil filter, used screwdriver lowered the plunger had someone crank no oil would fill the bowl, checked oil level all levels are good. No movement on the oil gauge while cranking.

waiting for the rain to stop, to push the truck in the drive. what kind of price am I looking at to change this out. And is there a place to order on line. living out side of the us it is hard to get parts.
With little resources, I would pull the oil pressure regulator out of the cover (all three parts) see the picture Blade35 posted above. Just 1 cap screw (6mm I think) holds it in. Look for small pieces of metal that could indicate bigger problems and clean any varnish off, the parts should slide easy. If you find metal inside the regulator or your still not making pressure then pull harmonic balancer/front pulley off crankshaft and remove small cover to inspect pump gears. Metal/damage here would be a very bad sign.
Talked to a dealership this morning. They said before I do anything to raise the back up about a foot add about 3 qts of oil and crank again to see if the bowl is filling up. The guy said to him it sounds more as if the pick-up tube is cracked. Which is my first step. But did not raise the back up to check this. And really only called for prices for parts.
