Been thinking about this and was wondering...While I have this truck broke down should there be any mods or anything to upgrade? Just to make it easier than doing it later?
Benny wouldnt a failed STC would be very possible with this being a 06. I replaced mine when the oil cooler was replaced. Seems like I see a lot of STC failures here on the board.
Id see how far this LPO Problem goes before I spent much
This no oil to the filter housing cann get spendy
As long as I do not spend more than 5K in this problem I should be ok. So far looking at prices I am under 1K for the grears, pick up tube, and new cover. I have the pick up tube on order. So by the time it gets here I should have everything pulled out and ready to start replacing parts as needed.
If I order something now that I do not need then I will have it in stock when the time comes.
Dont mean to be a drag but I would finish tear down and inspection before buying LPO pump or related parts. If there are impressions of roller bearings in the pump gears they likely came from the roller tips on the lifters. This commonly wipes the lobe off the cam. Because of the way the engine is designed the camshaft is the last piece to come out of the block. Hopefully, the regulator is sticking or the pump gear damage is somthing easier or the pick-up or tube has a problem .
I gotcha, I am hoping this week the rain will stop so I can push the truck in and start the breakdown process.
A new engine I was quoted 9k for. So If I can get everything done for under 5K I am ok with that.
For me not being that knowledgeable with diesel engines it is easier to remove and replace items.
If they are still good then I will have started a bench stock of parts so when I do need them I have them. I have replaced the FICM I have that ready to go back I am asking them to repair and send back to me. I have replaced the Steering gearbox and will do the same thing with that. I have a new Fuel filter sitting here.
I know by doing this I will have spent more money than needed but I also know I am prepared for anything except a cracked block.
I have started the design for my new garage to where I have room to do anything and everything. Putting in a overhead hoist for engine removal, and will also be looking for tools and anything else that I might need.
Hey Brett, the video isn't wiporking for me.
(Yea, I left the misspelled word in there because I though it was funny, thought i typed "working" what kind of suggested word is that? Lol).
Anyway, it says" embedding disabled by request" and "watch on YouTube" underlined like it's a link, but the link isn't wiporking for me either.
Never seen anything like that before.

I have seen where the video will not play on the forum but clicking the underlined link will open YouTube in another window, so that is how I always watch YouTube videos on the forum. The underlined link worked for me this time.
